Flooring Direct of KC

My dad and grandpa started this company back in 2007. I was only 11, so I didn’t know much about the journey they were embarking upon. What I did know is that it brought something new and exciting into our lives. I spent the next few summers sitting in the back of the carpet van filled with samples in our driveway, playing with my friends. I would get so excited when I was able to ride around with my dad to his appointments and meet all the new customers. For the next few years that would be our new normal.

Fast forward to 2011. The company was slowly but surely growing, and I was able to understand more, and better appreciate all the hard work and long days my dad and grandpa were putting in to make their dreams become reality. There were too many samples to squeeze into the van at that point, so my grandpa’s basement became the new office. I loved going over there and being able to visit with my grandpa, squeeze in an occasional lunch date, and watch things grow day by day.

Three more years went by, and they bought their first official space. It was too small to hold offices though, so they still worked out of the basement. Nonetheless, it was a huge step and something we were all so proud of. There were now three desks in the basement and a whole lot of going back and forth between the showroom, my grandpa’s house, and driving the van everywhere. Things began to pick up and my grandpa, dad, Mitch, and Rodger were always busy doing their own parts.

As things kept expanding and we needed more, we decided to give up our first space and move into something bigger to better fit our needs. Ryan came aboard in 2021 with a wealth of experience in the flooring industry, as well as new ideas for the future of Flooring Direct of KC. Today we have one of the premier showrooms in KC, new faces, state of the art technology, and new approaches to ensure the best service possible. Although we lost the biggest part of us when my grandpa passed, I know he continues to shine down on us, so proud of how hard we’ve all worked to come together as one. This company has been filled with dedication, late nights, and challenge after challenge. More importantly though, it’s been the small victories that turned into big ones, the milestones we never thought we’d be able to reach, taking a step back from the busy day to day and realizing truly how far we have come, and above all, doing it as a family. Flooring Direct of KC’s core value has always been family and we hope to be able to serve you and make you a part of ours!

CHRIS TERRELL

Chris started Flooring Direct of KC along with his father in 2008. He was in the construction industry at the time, while his father had worked in purchasing for both TWA and American Airlines. Together, they believed in the family values and Mom & Pop roots that a flooring business should have. With that, the company was born. In those early days, Chris ran the office out of his father’s basement while delivering samples to customers in his van. By 2019, Chris left the construction world completely to help run the flooring business full-time. Unfortunately, Chris lost his dad unexpectedly in the summer of 2020, but he has vowed to push forward and continue the vision that Flooring Direct of KC was created from. Chris cares deeply about each customer’s experience and the honest values that brought them here.

Away from work, Chris has two daughters along with his fiancé and soon to be three stepchildren. He loves golf, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

RYAN VOGEL

In 2021, Ryan joined forces with Flooring Direct of KC, bringing an extensive background in the construction and manufacturing industry that spans over two decades. Originally from Chicago, Ryan relocated to Kansas City in 2007 to oversee the property management division for The Sherwin-Williams Company. IN 2012, he joined Design Source Flooring, initially as an Account Manager and later as the Regional Sales Manager, further expanding his knowledge and skill set. Prior to partnering with Flooring Direct of KC, Ryan spent five years at Wenger Corporation, where he held various roles including Regional Sales Manager, Athletics Market Manager, and Senior Strategic Accounts Manager. This diverse range of experiences has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the industry and a unique perspective on customer needs. Ryan, along with his wife Patti and their daughter Claire, have made their home in Parkville. During his leisure time, Ryan can be found enjoying a round of golf, or embarking on exciting adventures with his family. His dedication to connecting with customers is evident in his unwavering commitment to ensuring they receive the highest quality products and services that are tailored to their individual requirements.

With over two decades of experience in the multi-family housing industry, Teresa Benson is a seasoned professional who has made a significant mark on the Kansas City real estate scene. Teresa's journey in this field began over 20 years ago, and since then, she has been dedicated to managing and developing luxury apartment communities throughout the Kansas City area. 

Teresa serves as the Director of Operations at Flooring Direct of KC, where her expertise extends to interior design and flooring solutions. Her role as a manager in the flooring industry complements her real estate skills, providing clients with a comprehensive approach to creating their dream living spaces. Teresa's commitment to her clients is unparalleled. Holding both Missouri and Kansas real estate licenses, she has expanded her capacity to assist others in their real estate endeavors. Her guiding principle is putting clients first, ensuring they receive the highest level of care, and making them a top priority. 
Being a Kansas City native, Teresa possesses an intimate knowledge of the local residential and commercial spaces, as well as a keen understanding of local design and styles. Her expertise is build up on a foundation of serving clients and ensuring they have the best possible experience throughout their real estate and flooring projects. 
Beyond her professional pursuits, Teresa finds joy in spending quality time with her husband and two sons. She embraces a love for exploration and adventure, and you'll often find her discovering new destinations around the world. Teresa's wanderlust fuels her strong desire to travel, and she's always eager to embark on new adventures.

Sal began his career in foodservice over 25 years ago as a senior executive with ConAgra. Since then, he has a diverse portfolio which includes commercial real estate development, residential construction and multi-family property management. Sal is also a licensed real estate agent in Missouri and Kansas.

His attention to detail and a strong commitment to the needs of his customers has been paramount throughout his career, always offering the highest level of customer service. As a seasoned real estate professional, Sal has assisted many homeowners in updating their homes to list on the market.

Outside of his professional career, Sal, his wife Roxann and their five children reside in Kansas City Northland. Sal enjoys hunting, fishing and loves to cook for family and friends.

Outside of work, Mitchell and his wife Christie have two dogs and a cat and loves to go fishing. Always in touch with his creative side, he is also an artist and guitar player.
